Judson MacLaury, Historical Researcher and Senior Adviser

Judson served as the Historian to the U.S. Department of Labor from 1972 until his retirement in 2006. He has written and published extensively on many subjects related to labor and government, including Black history. In retirement he authored the book To Advance Their Opportunities (University of Tennessee, 2008) about the federal government’s treatment of its African American workforce before the Civil Rights Act of 1964. As a freelancer in retirement he writes histories of companies (such as Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities, Microsoft, and Pratt and Whitney) and nonprofit organizations (including the Metropolitan Opera, Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, and United Way of America). He also prepares study materials for college textbooks.

Judson met Dorothy Holton in 2010, was deeply impressed with her and KoolWorldMedia’s talents and products, and has been just waiting for the chance to apply his knowledge and experience in a project of theirs. “The Joyce Ann Gaines Story” is the perfect opportunity for him to work with them on a subject of profound historical importance.
